How to use

  1. Tuck the front cover of your book into the pocket of the fabric dust jacket
  2. Wrap the dust jacket around your book and fold it over the back cover
  3. Secure in place with the elastic strap (dust jacket will adjust to the thickness of your book)
  4. Never lose your page with the built-in ribbon bookmark (unless your cat grabs hold of it)
  5. Happy reading!

These are the one reading accessory we absolutely would not be without.

These incredibly handy fabric covers are flexible, adjustable, look beautiful, and do a FANTASTIC job of keeping both your hardcover and paperback books protected while you read.

The built-in bookmark ensures you never lose your page, and the adjustable nature of the dust jacket allows it to accommodate books from approximately 200-900+ pages (depending on individual page thickness).

We've tested these on hundreds of our own books, and have perfected the sizing over five years of testing, trialling, and listening to the incredible valuable feedback of book lovers all around the world.

FAQs

What's the best size for me?

  • Easiest way: measure your book height and match this to our fabric dust jacket size (e.g. books with a spine height of 9.5" fit our 9.5"/24.1cm dust jacket).

Most common for USA/Canada:

  • 9.5 & 9.25 for tall hardcovers
  • 9 for tall paperbacks
  • 8.5 for short hard covers
  • 8.25 for short paperbacks

Most common for AUS/UK:

  • 9.5 for tall hardcovers
  • 9.25 for tall paperbacks
  • 8.5 for short hardcovers
  • 7.75 for short paperbacks

Can I use fabric dust jackets on paperbacks?

You sure can! These are great for both hardcovers and paperback books.

Can I use a bigger dust jacket on a smaller book?

We don't usually recommend this as each dust jacket is designed for the intended book size (total length, ribbon placement, elastic placement). On smaller books, things are unlikely to line up well for a comfortable fit in a bigger dust jacket.

Can I build my own bundle with different designs?

Where do you ship to?

We ship to nearly every country around the world from two locations:
California - for USA & Canada orders
Australia - for Aus and rest of world (including NZ, UK and Europe)

Are they waterproof?

The fabric layers will absorb small amounts of moisture, though we can't guarantee total protection of your books against water damage. The edges of your book pages will also still be exposed, so we recommend taking extra care when your book is around water and other liquids.

How do I clean my dust jacket?

Gentle cold wash by hand or machine (if using machine, place in garment bag), and lay flat to dry. Do not tumble-dry and warm iron only, as high heat this can shrink your dust jacket.

I've ordered the wrong size, can I exchange it?

Sure can! This falls within our Returns & Refunds policy which covers you for 30 days after your order arrives. Simply reach out to us at support@charlieandfox.com.au and we'll get this organised for you.

What size do I need for FairyLoot books?

FairyLoot tall hardcovers are 9.5" /24.1 cm

I’ve received my dust jacket and it’s slightly bigger than what the website size says. Is this right?

The sizing details on our website (e.g. 9.5"/24,1cm) refers to intended book size for each fabric dust jacket. The dust jacket itself will be slightly taller than this to allow room for your book to slide into the pocket of the dust jacket without bending or damaging your corners.

I'd love to make my own, can you share your pattern?

We're flattered that you love our design enough to want to make your own, however we don't share our patterns or design specs.

While we don't own the concept of dust jackets in general, the IP that we've created within Charlie & Fox to design our *specific* fabric dust jackets is protected, and we'd be remiss if we didn't at least refer you to our website Terms of Service in this regard (Section 10: Intellectual Property).

Do your dust jacket sizes change?

We have a small tolerance (+/- 2mm) for our design specs, as each of these are individually made by hand so you may notice tiny differences between individual dust jackets. We also made adjustments to improve the overall fit and versatility in mid-July 2025. With all of that being said, if you ever have any trouble with sizing and need to check with us, please don't hesitate to reach out to support@charlieandfox.com.au

fabulous

wonderfully soft and beautiful. i never have to worry about getting my books dirty when i carry them around with me. well worth the price. i got every size and will keep track of which ones i use the most and get it again in a different pattern.

i do think it might be nice to have something to keep the book shut when its in the bag, maybe an elastic like in the back? but just a thought.

Love these fabric dust jackets! I bought 3 different sizes in 3 different fabrics (size XS, M, and US L) and they’re all beautiful and seem well made. I will be getting tons of use out of these as I take books with me frequently to various places and these will definitely help protect them. Between the 3 sizes, I’ve been able to find one that fit well on all the books I have tried so far.
My only drawback , which is completely out of the company’s hands, but I thought other Canadians should be aware of is that shopping takes quite a while, about 3 full weeks (so if you order one as a gift, plan ahead and order early to ensure its arrival), and additionally you may, on a larger order like mine, be charged Duty fees upon delivery. I ended up paying about $15, so its just something to be aware of and budget for in case it happens to you as well. Overall I’m very happy with them and would consider ordering different designs in the future.
