We recommend measuring the height (spine) of your books to select the best fabric covers for your personal collection.

L - for tall & royal hardcovers up to 24cm / 9.5 inches tall

US-L - for US tall hardcovers up to 23.5cm / 9.25 inches tall

M - for tall trade paperbacks up to 23cm / 9 inches tall

S - for digest paperbacks & smaller hardcovers up to 21.5cm / 8.5 inches tall

DS - for paperbacks up to 21cm / 8.25 inches tall

XS - for trade paperbacks up to 20cm / 8 inches tall

XXS - for mass market paperbacks up to 17.75cm / 7" tall

How to use

  1. Tuck the front cover of your book into the pocket of the fabric dust jacket
  2. Wrap the dust jacket around your book and fold it over the back cover
  3. Secure in place with the elastic strap (dust jacket will adjust to the thickness of your book)
  4. Never lose your page with the built-in ribbon bookmark (unless your cat grabs hold of it)
  5. Happy reading!

Fabric dust jackets

These are the one reading accessory we absolutely would not be without.

These incredibly handy fabric covers are flexible, adjustable, look beautiful, and do a FANTASTIC job of keeping both your hardcover and paperback books protected while you read.

The built-in bookmark ensures you never lose your page, and the adjustable nature of the dust jacket allows it to accommodate books from approximately 200-900+ pages (depending on individual page thickness).

We've tested these on hundreds of our own books, and have perfected the sizing over four years of testing, trialling, and listening to the incredible valuable feedback of book lovers all around the world.

FAQs

What's the best size for me?

The easiest way to check what size you need, is to measure the height (spine) of your book, and check this against our size chart guide. You'll find this in the product images above, and here's a quick overview of the most common sizes we see, depending on where in the world you are.

USA: We recommend the Large (L) for your tall hardcovers, and quite often your paperbacks will fit either the Small (S) or Demi-Small (DS).

UK/Aus/Rest of world: We recommend the Large (L) for your tall hardcovers, Medium (M) for your tall paperbacks, and Extra Small (XS) for your short paperbacks.

What size do I need for FairyLoot books?

For your beautiful tall FairyLoot hardcover books (royal size), you're going to want the Large (L) size, which is designed for tall hardcovers up to 9.5 inches / 24cm in height.

If you have any of the short FairyLoot hardcovers, go for the Demi-small (DS) size, which is perfect for books up to 8.25 inches / 21cm in height.

Where do you ship to?

We ship to nearly every country around the world from our business hub here in Australia. This includes USA, Canada, UK, Europe, New Zealand, and of course Australia.

Are they waterproof?

While the cotton exterior fabric will absorb small amounts of moisture, we can't guarantee any protection of your books against water damage. The edges of your book pages will also still be exposed, so we recommend taking extra care when your book is around water and other liquids.

Do you offer wholesale for retailers?

How do I clean my dust jacket?

Gentle cold wash by hand or machine (if using machine, place in garment bag), and lay flat to dry. Do not tumble-dry, as this can shrink your dust jacket.

I've ordered the wrong size, can I exchange it?

Absolutely! This falls within our Returns & Refunds policy which covers you for 30 days after your order arrives. Simply reach out to us at support@charlieandfox.com.au and we'll get this organised for you.

I’ve received my dust jacket and it’s slightly bigger than what the website size says. Is this right?

The sizing details on our website (e.g. 20cm / 8 inches) refers to intended book size for each fabric dust jacket. The dust jacket itself will be slightly taller than this to allow room for your book to slide into the pocket of the dust jacket without bending or damaging your corners.

I'd love to make my own, can you share your pattern?

We're flattered that you love our design enough to want to make your own, however we don't share our patterns or design specs.

While we don't own the concept of dust jackets in general, the IP that we've created within Charlie & Fox to design our *specific* fabric dust jackets is protected, and we'd be remiss if we didn't at least refer you to our website Terms of Service in this regard (Section 10: Intellectual Property).

Do your dust jacket sizes change?

We have a small tolerance (+/- 2mm) for our design specs, as each of these are individually made by hand so you many notice tiny differences between individual dust jackets. We also made our Large dust jackets longer in early 2024 to allow them to fit even thicker books! With all of that being said, if you ever have any trouble with sizing and need to check with us, please don't hesitate to reach out to support@charlieandfox.com.au

Great Quality

I love the design and how soft it is. I'm using it on my paperbacks when I read them. I gave it 4 stars because my books did get a tiny bit damaged and I don't if it's the way I put it on or something else but amazing overall.

Worth it

I had been looking for protective sleeves for my books because I recently got into the romance genre and I'm too shy to be seen reading them in public. I'm also very prone to spilling my drinks and I've ruined books before. I searched for ages for cute covers that aren't boring or biblical themed (nothing wrong with that just not my thing.)

So I ordered the classic bundle all the way to the US, and I've been using them every day since. I love them, I love how they look and that they're adjustable to different books. The materials feel sturdy and the fabric is pretty soft. The very first day I used them, I accidentally spilled water on the table and the library book was intact. I would buy again if I see another pattern I like because I read multiple books at a time.

So far I've only had 1 paperback that's a weird size so it was a little too big for the small and a little too small for the medium. Every other book I've read comfortably fits in a sleeve so it's a rare issue.

I haven't seen any other sellers have this good quality, decent price, AND good patterns. Definitely worth it.
