Sizing info

We recommend measuring the height (spine) of your books to select the best fabric covers for your personal collection.

9.5"/24.1cm - for tall hardcovers, most universally common size

9.25"/23.5cm - for tall Aus/UK paperbacks (most common) and US hardcovers (US has a mix of 9.5 and 9.25 tall hardcovers; if in doubt, start with the 9.5 size)

9"/22.9cm - for tall US paperbacks

8.5/ 21.6cm- for medium paperbacks & hardcovers

8.25"/21cm - for US short paperbacks and B-format hardcovers

8"/20.3cm - for Indie paperbacks

7.75"/19.7cm - for short Aus/UK paperbacks; some small US paperbacks are this size too

7"/17.8cm - for little mass market paperbacks

How to use

Tuck the front cover of your book into the pocket of the fabric dust jacket
Wrap the dust jacket around your book and fold it over the back cover
Secure in place with the elastic strap (dust jacket will adjust to the thickness of your book)
Never lose your page with the built-in ribbon bookmark (unless your cat grabs hold of it)

Finding the best fit for your personal library

Our fabric dust jackets have been designed with the most common sizes of books in publishing in mind. The easiest way to make sure you're choosing the right size is to measure the height of your book, and check this against our size chart. FAQs

What's the best size for me?

The easiest way to check what size you need, is to measure the height (spine) of your book, and check this against our size chart guide which you'll find in the product images for every dust jacket.

USA: We recommend 9.5 and 9.25 for your tall hardcovers, 9 for your tall paperbacks, and 8.25 for your short paperbacks. 8.5 is also a common size for your collection.

UK/Aus/Rest of world: We recommend 9.5 for your tall hardcovers, 9.25 for your tall paperbacks, and 7.75 for your short paperbacks. 8.5 is also a common size for your collection.

Can I build my own bundle with different designs?

You sure can! Simply add any 4+ to your cart and you'll automatically receive a 10% bundle discount, and add any 6+ to automatically receive a 15% bundle discount

What size do I need for FairyLoot books?

For your beautiful tall FairyLoot hardcover books (royal size), you're going to want the 9.5/24.1 size, which is designed for tall hardcovers up to 9.5 inches / 24.1cm in height.

If you have any of the short FairyLoot hardcovers, go for the 8.25/21cm size.

Where do you ship to?

We ship to nearly every country around the world from our business hub here in Australia. This includes USA, Canada, UK, Europe, New Zealand, and of course Australia.

Are they waterproof?

While the cotton exterior fabric will absorb small amounts of moisture, we can't guarantee any protection of your books against water damage. The edges of your book pages will also still be exposed, so we recommend taking extra care when your book is around water and other liquids.

Do you offer wholesale for retailers?

How do I clean my dust jacket?

Gentle cold wash by hand or machine (if using machine, place in garment bag), and lay flat to dry. Do not tumble-dry, as this can shrink your dust jacket.

Warm iron recommended only for non-foiled fabric, as heat & rubbing can damage foiled designs.

I've ordered the wrong size, can I exchange it?

Absolutely! This falls within our Returns & Refunds policy which covers you for 30 days after your order arrives. Simply reach out to us at support@charlieandfox.com.au and we'll get this organised for you.

I’ve received my dust jacket and it’s slightly bigger than what the website size says. Is this right?

The sizing details on our website (e.g. 9.5"/24,1cm) refers to intended book size for each fabric dust jacket. The dust jacket itself will be slightly taller than this to allow room for your book to slide into the pocket of the dust jacket without bending or damaging your corners.

I'd love to make my own, can you share your pattern?

We're flattered that you love our design enough to want to make your own, however we don't share our patterns or design specs.

While we don't own the concept of dust jackets in general, the IP that we've created within Charlie & Fox to design our *specific* fabric dust jackets is protected, and we'd be remiss if we didn't at least refer you to our website Terms of Service in this regard (Section 10: Intellectual Property).

Do your dust jacket sizes change?

We have a small tolerance (+/- 2mm) for our design specs, as each of these are individually made by hand so you may notice tiny differences between individual dust jackets. We also made adjustments to improve the overall fit and versatility in mid-July 2025. With all of that being said, if you ever have any trouble with sizing and need to check with us, please don't hesitate to reach out to support@charlieandfox.com.au

Rivals to Romance Dust Jackets

These were beautiful irl, just like the photos online. I am super happy with the design and colour. It doesn’t pick up a lot of fluff or dirt etc and I’ve been using them since they arrived.

The book mark ribbon is a bit long and bothersome but I’ve found I can tuck it behind the front flap to keep it out of the way.

In addition to this, the back elastic doesn’t always hold the book firm / stay in place with thicker books but I find a paper clip great at making it feel more solid and it doesn’t mark my book covers.

The size guide was extremely helpful and I purchased an xs and m which has been perfect for a variety of books without hassle.
